His first season in Berkeley in 2013 saw the Bears match a program-record with six All-NorPac selections, including West Offensive Player of the Year Lara Kruggel and West Defensive Player of the Year Courtney Hendrickson.

Cal advanced to the NorPac Tournament semifinals in Mahan's second season in Berkeley.

Mahan joined the Bears following a seven-year stint as a defender in the U.S. Men’s National Team organization from 2001-08. He earned his first CAP with the national team at the Mexico Four Nations Tournament in Salamancia, Mexico on August 10, 2002 where he played alongside former California assistant coach Arjen Reyatt. He was a member of the 2005 U.S. Pan American Junior Championship team that finished fourth overall in the tournament held in Havana, Cuba.

Mahan came to Cal after recently completing a degree in liberal studies at Arizona State.

The Camarilla, Calif., native has also spent time working with U-16 teams prior to joining the Golden Bears.
