A native of Kelowna British Columbia, Canada, Frandsen comes to Berkeley as one of Canada's most highly-regarded Olympians. He competed in his third Olympic games in London, rowing in the pair. He earned a Silver Medal in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Frandsen also competed in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, where he helped the men's eight to a fifth-place finish.
Frandsen was a standout at California where he was part of three-straight Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) championship men's eight boats from 2000-02. The Golden Bear captain also guided Cal to the three-straight Pac-10 titles in the men's eight and was honored as a First Team All-Pac-10 selection as a senior in 2002.
