Shellie Onstead returns for another year of Field Hockey Camps and Clinics in 2017
San Rafael, CA: Head Field Hockey Coach Shellie Onstead is hosting her annual residential field hockey camp at Cal Berkeley this summer! Dates and details have been released on Cal Sports Camps website for the 2017 season.
While at the Shellie Onstead Field Hockey Camp at Cal athletes are given the unique opportunity to train with one of the most impactful field hockey coaches in the country and have fun at the same time! Shellie Onstead is a former U.S. Olympic assistant coach, Cal’s first All-American player, and a California Hall of Fame inductee. The skills she has acquired as a celebrated athlete and coach make her an ideal camp director for young players that want to take their game to the next level.
Athletes work alongside Cal’s coaching staff and current players to develop skills and perfect techniques to better their game. Training sessions focus on building fundamentals and incorporating advanced tactics. Daily instruction and scrimmages give athletes the opportunity to practice what they’ve learned in a competitive, real time environment. This camp is an excellent chance for players to make improvements and prepare for the upcoming season.
Cal Berkeley also hosts the Cal Spring Field Hockey Clinic and Tournament. In 2016, Onstead and her coaching staff hosted over 60 field hockey teams on Cal’s campus for the clinic and tournament. The tournament is taking place March 11th and 12th this year. At the start of each day teams begin with an instructional clinic facilitated by Onstead and her staff and tournament play takes place immediately following instruction. Individuals are also welcome to sign up and will be assigned a team when they arrive at the clinic.
